Marvels Kevin Feige Has Revealed What One Of The MCUs Next Cosmic Movies Might Be
Avengers 4 will mark the end of an era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the franchise isn't hitting the breaks once that spectacle has concluded. Although Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are the only post-Phase Three movies to be officially announced so far, there are plenty of other movies in development, though until today, a Black Widow standalone movie was the only other project the public had been made aware of from this slate. However, as previously revealed, there will be a bigger cosmic presence in the MCU going forward, and one of the ways that might be accomplished is through an Eternals movie. According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige:
Eternals is one of many many many things that we are actively beginning to have creative discussions about to see if we believe in them enough to put them on a slate.
As Kevin Feige revealed to The Wrap, although there's still a fair amount of work to be done in the final stretch of Phase Three, which includes Ant-Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel and Avengers 4, Feige and his fellow MCU bigwigs have already begun planning what others movies will be released afterwards. To be clear, Eternals hasn't officially gotten the green light; in fact, it may be a while until we learn what the next full slate of Marvel movies looks like. However, since we'll likely be diving deeper into the MCU's cosmic realm, Eternals would be a worthy addition to the canon. Screenwriters have also reportedly met with Marvel about drafting an Eternals story that revolves around Sersi, one of the main characters from this corner of the Marvel universe.
Created by Jack Kirby in 1976, The Eternals are a long-lived race of beings that were created by the powerful Celestials millions of years ago. The Eternals were the result of a genetic experiment that also saw the creation of the destructive Deviants. Thanks to their accelerated evolution, the Eternals are long-lived, can't be hurt by extreme temperatures, are immune to disease and poison and are imbued with cosmic energy that can be channeled into a number of special abilities. The Eternals haven't been directly addressed in the MCU yet, but Thanos is an Eternal-Deviant hybrid, hence why in the comics he doesn't look human like most of the other Eternals. Considering that by the time Avengers: Infinity War begins, Thanos' homeworld, Titan, has long been devoid of life, one would imagine this means that an Eternals movie would be a prequel, taking place long before the events of the modern MCU began.

As far as horror franchises go, there are none quite as beloved and iconic as Halloween. John Carpenter's original 1978 movie created the mold for slashers as we know it, and brought Jamie Lee Curtis to stardom as a young actress. The property has once again returned to the top of pop culture, as Blumhouse's Halloween arrived in theaters, telling an emotional and thrilling story about Laurie Strode and her family.
One of the most chilling sequences from the new Halloween came when Michael finally arrived back in Haddonfield, and began wandering through a neighborhood, and both killing and sparing victims at random. This includes a baby, who Michael ultimately spares during the long shot. Director David Gordon Green recently spoke to this scene, and the decision for Michael to leave without harming the small child.
And now we're looking at a character who I proclaim is the essence of evil and has no motivation, no emotion, no real stimulation other than being a predator. And yet we've given him this one consideration in which he does the right thing. So I'm not exactly sure how to stand by that and justify that, although I think it's fascinating to think of someone that is nothing but a cold-blooded, faceless, motivation-less killer. He made one decision that we are happy that he made.
Now this is fascinating. Part of what makes Michael Myers such a compelling villain in the first Halloween is his total lack of character or clear motivation. This was eventually scrapped when Laurie and Michael were made siblings, therefore giving him logical reason for hunting down the OG scream queen. But Blumhouse abandoned all the sequels for their Halloween, once again allowing Michael to become an agent of pure chaos.
Having Michael actually spare a victim, especially one so innocent, was no doubt a strange experience for hardcore fans of the franchise. The masked killer has only ever been seen murdering countless victims, so there hasn't been an opportunity for moviegoers to agree with him decisions. That is, until he decided not to kill an adorable baby.
Apart from showing a new side of Michael, David Gordon Green also revealed that his moment with the baby actually started as a timing matter, as there was extra time in the already iconic long shot of Michael's rampage. As Green told LA Times,
We were looking for an interesting 15-second gap in a long sequence. And there were 15 seconds, no tension, no new information. And the goal was, 'How do we put something that's 15 seconds' worth of intrigue in the sequence?' And the production designer and the DP came up with the idea of putting a baby crib in the living room and then a baby. Sometimes moviemaking is just about logistics, and making things up on the fly. Hugh Jackmans Spoiler Free Deadpool 2 Review Is Hilarious And Perfect
With Deadpool 2 debuting in theaters next weekend, screenings have already begun for the eagerly anticipated sequel. The early reactions are incredibly positive, and tease a sequel that could surpass the original. Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld was even brought to tears by the film. But Rob Liefeld is predisposed to liking Deadpool, and you may or may not agree with the critics. What fans everywhere really need is to hear what Wolverine himself thought. Thankfully, Hugh Jackman has offered up a spoiler free review that is hilarious and perfect in its delivery. Take a gander below:
As always, Hugh Jackman is brilliant, even in a short Twitter video. I assumed that he would say something positive, but the way he took a deep breath and seemingly worked up to it before saying what he thought had me wondering if he was going to go in another direction. Although he made it out like it pained him to say it and give Ryan Reynolds the satisfaction, the once and future(?) Wolverine swallowed his pride and praises Deadpool 2 as a 'work of genius' and 'epic', which is quite the compliment for a raunchy movie full of sex jokes. Hugh Jackman doesn't elaborate, seemingly mad at himself for admitting to Deadpool 2's greatness, but his review tells us all we need to know and should sell anyone who is still on the fence for some strange reason.
Perhaps the source of Hugh Jackman's feigned frustration is how much he and his Wolverine character are referenced in the original Deadpool, with jokes throughout the film about the Australian actor and the character he portrayed for years. Wolverine is practically a character in the film, his presence felt throughout even in his absence thanks to the references. That looks to continue in Deadpool 2 as well, with the posters and trailers highlighting that the film comes from the studio that killed Wolverine.
Seeing Hugh Jackman even talking about Deadpool is enough to get the wheels turning. Although he retired from playing Wolverine in Fox's X-Verse with last year's brilliant Logan, until there is a new Weapon X, there will always be the hope that Hugh Jackman will come back and unsheathe the claws one more time. Fans and Ryan Reynolds both want Hugh Jackman to make an appearance in a Deadpool movie given how much Wolverine and the Merc with a Mouth cross paths in the comics. And although it appears that Hugh Jackman has hung up the claws for good, Ryan Reynolds is still trying to convince him.
We probably won't be getting Wolverine in Deadpool 2, but the sequel will still feature plenty of badassery from Cable and the X-Force as well as a potential Juggernaut appearance. The horror genre is on a roll right now and seemingly everyone is attempting to capitalize by rebooting long-dormant properties for another go around. While plenty of horror icons created decades ago are returning to the big screen in the near future, another series that began at the turn of the millennium is also getting a reboot. Final Destination is coming back to prove that clever and gory deaths never go out of style.
New Line Cinema has tapped two veterans of the Saw franchise to bring back its Final Destination franchise. Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, who previously scripted four Saw films together, have been brought aboard to write the screenplay for the Final Destination reboot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The reboot is being described as a re-imagining of the franchise, but no specific plot details or a target release date have been revealed as of yet.
The Final Destination franchise was good to New Line, with five films from the first in 2000 to the last, Final Destination 5, in 2011, grossing almost $700 million worldwide on small budgets. That low budget model is the bread and butter of the horror genre, and New Line has found recent success with it via its highly lucrative Conjuring Universe. So New Line knows how to make horror work and is looking to bring in more of that money with a reboot of Final Destination.
The Final Destination films also had a very simple and easily replicable premise wherein a character would have a premonition of a death via some sort of calamity. The character would then attempt to avert the disaster and save their own and other people's lives, thus cheating death. But when you say 'not today' to the god of death, he doesn't take too kindly to it.
So Death would then look to take what he is owed, coming after the survivors and claiming their lives through increasingly elaborate and clever means. The Final Destination franchise always had a tongue in cheek quality to it, especially as the franchise went on, becoming more ridiculous with the gore and the hilarious absurdity coming in equal measure.
Seeing a Final Destination movie was very much about seeing what clever ways each successive film found to kill people, and with the writers of four Saw films on board for the reboot, I expect there will be more of that to look forward to with this reboot. Although I'm not sure exactly what the 're-imagining' will be, so hopefully whatever it is makes this reboot feel fresh and not just like Final Destination 6.

Seeing a Final Destination movie was very much about seeing what clever ways each successive film found to kill people, and with the writers of four Saw films on board for the reboot, I expect there will be more of that to look forward to with this reboot.
