What BD Wong Is Actually Doing In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, According To New Trailer
With all of the action packed into yesterday's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom trailer, the briefest of glimpses involving B.D. Wong's Dr. Henry Wu had folks wondering just how he'd play into the film's plot. While it was known that his laboratory skills would be involved in what looks like a plot involving dinosaur creation and proliferation, to what extent his magic would be worked was a bit unknown. So leave it to a new, extended trailer for the film to tell us that Dr. Wu himself is the architect behind the Indoraptor.
In the middle of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom's partially new showcase of footage, a lot of attention is paid to the fact that Blue's extraction is part of the Indoraptor's genesis. This leads to the inclusion of a moment where Dr. Wu states that he created "this animal" himself, which all but confirms that this beast is more than likely the one that Vic Hoskins pointed out in the control room during his pre-death spiel in Jurassic World's third act. However, it's Rafe Spall's villainous character Mills who seems to be the one who wants to move ahead with the weaponizing and selling of these dinosaurs. Which is fair, considering how B.D. Wong's legacy character from Jurassic Park has always been about the creation aspect, while keeping a cursory glance on the business and applications end.
Dr. Henry Wu and Mills' intentions come through pretty clearly through the latter's pitch to Claire Dearing and her Dinosaur Protection Group, as he really sells the fact that Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom's dinosaurs need to be "preserved." But, of course, "preserved" doesn't always mean alive, intact, or in good health. With all of these dinosaurs and their DNA specimens at his disposal, Mills could make an army of dinosaur hybrids, courtesy of Dr. Henry Wu's mad science. Of course, the two will have to agree on their common purpose, and they'll need to survive the rampage of the Indoraptor -- which is surprisingly absent from this trailer. Take a look for yourself at this new round of excitement, below.
From a fan's standpoint, this new Chinese market trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom plays so much better than yesterday's domestic trailer. It teases the viewer more in terms of how the film will play out, and doesn't show off too much of the Indoraptor. And even better, seeing B.D. Wong's surviving baddie showing off just how Jurassic World will tie into its sequel is a good bridge for folks who really enjoyed that first film, but may not be totally sold on why Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom deserves their attention. You could say, this trailer was designed to Wu fans back for more.
Puns aside, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will stomp onto theater screens on June 22nd. But don't let that stop you from looking toward the future for more fun at the movies, as you can consult our 2018 release schedule to see what else is on the horizon.
